One man has sustained serious injuries and another two have sustained minor injuries after a collision involving a light motor vehicle and a delivery vehicle on the N2 north bound, just before the Umgeni on ramp this afternoon.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found that two lanes of the four lane freeway was closed because of the accident. The light motor vehicle was in the right hand lane of the freeway, while the delivery vehicle was partly blocking the right and middle lane of the freeway. The driver of the light motor vehicle was still seated behind the wheel and still had his seat belt on. The paramedics assessed him and found that he had severe pain to the side of his neck, back and face. Advanced life support intervention was performed on the patient before he was taken out of the ambulance. The two passengers suffered very minor injuries and would go later to see their own doctor for further medical care. The occupants of the delivery vehicle were unharmed in the accident.

Metro police were on the scene and would investigate the accident further to determine who was at fault in the accident.
