Driver Killed After Hitting Bridge On The N14

[JOHANNESBURG – 18 AUGUST 2011 AT 02H00]

In the early hours of this morning on the N14 between Pretoria and Krugersdorp near Muldersdrift, a light motor vehicle left the road crashing into a bridge and rolling down an embankment coming to a halt on a service road at the bottom of the N14.

ER24 paramedics from Johannesburg West arrived on the scene and found the mangled wreck of what was left of an Opel Monza sedan at the bottom of the embankment. When they investigated further they found the driver, a male to be in his 40’s entrapped inside the vehicle. Unfortunately the patient who was severely entrapped inside the vehicle had suffered serious fatal injuries and was declared deceased on scene. The Fire Department arrived on the scene and had to use the Jaws of Life to extricate him from the vehicle.

It is unclear how the driver lost control of the vehicle but the local authorities were on the scene and would investigate the incident further.
