N4 TOLL ROUTE EAST – EXPECT TRAFFIC DELAYS BETWEEN MIDDELBURG AND EMALAHLENI/WITBANK ON SATURDAY, 20 AUGUST 2011
ANNUAL GREATEST TRAIN RACE TAKES PLACE ON THIS DAY
Road users are warned to expect slow traffic conditions and congestion from 05:00 to approximately 13:00 on the east- and westbound carriage ways between van Dijksdrift (Middelburg) and President Street (eMalahleni) off-ramps.
The annual Greatest Train Race is being held on the R555 between the two towns. While the relay event is underway, more than two hundred train race busses and official vehicles will make use of the N4 on a circle route to ferry around twenty thousand participants in the event.
The Greatest Train Race is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year and is considered one of the largest outreach programmes of its kind in the country. Nearly one million Rand is raised to benefit local charitable organisations.
