A man has been killed after the light motor vehicle he was travelling in collided in to the back of a stationary bus on Bosmandam Road in the Bothasig area of Cape Town this evening.

Emergency personnel arrived on the scene and found a white Honda Accord firmly wedged underneath the back of the bus in the emergency lane. Paramedics had to go underneath the bus to try and get to the driver of the car who was severely entrapped. The man to be in his 40’s had already succumbed to his injuries and was declared deceased on the scene. He was the only occupant in the car at the time of the accident.

A heavy duty rig was called to the scene to help lift the bus off the ground, so a tow truck was able to pull the car from underneath it. Once the car was freed the deceased was extricated from the vehicle.

It is unclear what caused the man to crash in to the back of the bus but all local authorities were on the scene and would investigate the accident further.
