A young man has been killed on Christiaan De Wet Road in Wilgeheuwel in the West of Johannesburg after he was allegedly knocked by a taxi.

The young man, appearing to be in his 20’s, was allegedly trying to cross the road when the taxi was driving along that stretch of road between Paul Kruger Avenue and John Voster Road. ER24 paramedics that arrived at the scene stated that the man was found lying halfway into the road with most of his broken body lying in the emergency lane.

After assessment, it was determined that the young man had already succumbed to the massive injuries that he had sustained from the impact with the taxi, and there was nothing further that could be done for him. The man had died at the scene, no one knowing who he was or where he was going.

The taxi was not transporting any commuters at the time of the accident, and despite the extensive damage to the body of the vehicle, the driver was left with no physical injuries. He did not want to go to hospital with the paramedics and was walking around at the scene.

The SAP Accident Investigators were at the scene and would determine the exact cause of this fatal accident.
