School Children Injured In Accident near Pietermaritzburg

[PIETERMARITZBURG – 23 SEPTEMBER 2011 AT 10H35]

10 school children that were travelling in a taxi on the N3 Pietermaritzburg bound just past Hilton off ramp on Town Hill, have been injured after the taxi had some sort of mechanical problem and crashed into the embankment next to the road.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found the taxi in the right hand lane of the freeway. The children were found still seated in the taxi. They were examined and found that they had suffered very minor to moderate injuries and were extremely shaken up from the incident. They were treated on scene and transported to various hospitals in the greater Pietermaritzburg area.

The necessary authorities were on scene and would investigate the accident further. The right hand lane was closed to traffic.
