2 Cars and a Taxi collide on the N1 near Noordwyk

4 People have sustained severe injuries this morning after 2 vehicles collided into a minibus taxi on the N1 highway near Noordwyk.

The cause of the collision is still unclear, but the minibus taxi had allegedly collided with the centre median barrier causing it to overturn. The other 2 vehicles, a VW Polo and Mitsubishi SUV, then collided into the taxi with speed.

When ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene, they found all the occupants in need of medical attention. The driver of the Mitsubishi had sustained severe chest and abdominal injuries and paramedics rapidly extricated the injured man from the vehicle before transporting him to hospital.

There were 2 occupants in the VW Polo, both male. The one occupant had sustained a serious head injury and needed to be transported to hospital rapidly. The passenger had sustained a fracture to his hand.

Fortunately the minibus taxi had one occupant only. The driver had sustained a fracture to his shoulder and was treated at the scene before being transported to a nearby medical facility. Local law enforcement authorities who attended the scene will be investigating the incident further.
