Newspaper seller killed in Brakpan road accident

[Brakpan 3 November 2011 13:00]

A young man who was selling newspapers at the corner of R554 and the R23 in Brakpan has been killed after being knocked by a vehicle. The man appeared to have been in his 20’s.

Witnesses to the tragic incident said that he was standing on the roadside when the trailer of a truck seemed to have knocked him, pulling him under the wheels. The injuries to the top part of his body and his head were so extensive, that when paramedics arrived at the scene the man was already dead. He had no signs of life and was declared deceased shortly thereafter.

The police took control of the scene and will conduct all of their necessary investigations into the incidents cause.

The truck was no longer on scene when paramedics arrived, so the whereabouts and condition of the driver is at this time not known.
