Vehicle crashes on De Waal drive

2 people sustained injuries this afternoon after their vehicle left De Waal drive in the direction of Cape Town before plummeting into a ditch.

When ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene they found the local fire and rescue services already attending to the injured occupants. The cause of the collision is unknown, but the vehicle had crashed through a barrier before plummeting into the ditch.

The male driver, aged 25, sustained multiple deep cuts to his face. The female passenger, aged 24, sustained a suspected back and neck injury. Both occupants received treatment at the scene before being transported to Groote Schuur hospital for further care.

Local law enforcement authorities who attended the scene will be investigating the incident further.
