Paramedics came across a motorbike accident at the corners of Govan Mbeki Drive and Chris Hani Street this morning shortly after the impact between a motorcyclist and a white Nissan Sentra had occurred. The damage to the car had been severe, and the bike lay shattered next to the vehicle.

The 26 year old man who was on the motorbike had been flung several meters and had sustained extensive injuries after crashing over the car’s bonnet, into the windscreen and landing on the road. Paramedics tried to revive the man but there was nothing more that could be done and he died at the scene a short while later.

There had been 3 occupants in the Sentra at the time and they were thoroughly assessed by paramedics and were found to have sustained relatively minor injuries.

It is not clear as yet who was at fault in the cause of the collision. Officials will perform all necessary investigations.
