37 people sustained injuries after the bus overturned in Mid-Illovo.

37 people sustained injuries after the bus they were traveling in left the road and overturned in Mid-Illovo.

The cause of the collision is unknown, but the bus had allegedly left the road before overturning down a small embankment. ER24 found a total of 37 people in need of medical attention.

2 occupants, both male, sustained severe head and chest injuries in the collision. Paramedics used Advanced Life Support procedures to stabilise both individuals. 1 man was later airlifted from the scene in a Medicopter.

7 people sustained suspected back and neck injuries and needed to be placed on special boards to prevent any further injuries. The other 28 patients sustained various injuries ranging from multiple scrapes and cuts to bruises.

All patients were transported to various hospitals in Pietermaritzburg and Durban. Multiple ambulance services attended the incident including local fire and rescue services from the area. Local law enforcement authorities who attended the scene will be investigating the incident further.
