[VEREENIGING – 31 DECEMBER 2011 AT 20H20]
There has being a motor bike accident on the Veliers Road about 15km outside of Vereeniging, has left one person dead and another in a critical condition this evening.
Emergency personnel arrived on the scene and found what was left of the motor bike strewn across the road. A female motorcyclist believed to be the passenger was found but unfortunately she had suffered severe traumatic and fatal injuries and was declared deceased on the scene. A male believed to be the driver was in a critical condition. He had suffered a head injury, chest injury and multiple broken bones. Advanced Life Support intervention was performed on the patient before he was rushed off to Mediclinic Vereeniging for further medical care.
It is unclear what caused the driver to lose control of his bike but the necessary authorities will have to investigate the accident further.
