16 People Injured In Accident in Braamfontein

A collision between a taxi and a BMW at the intersection of De Korte and De Beer road has left 16 people injured this afternoon.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found the taxi lying on its roof with the BMW just a few meters away. The occupants of the taxi were found outside of the vehicle, some are believed to have been ejected from the taxi during the accident. The taxi driver was entrapped and was in a critical condition. The Jaws of Life was used to extricate him from the vehicle. Advanced Life Support intervention was performed on the patient due to the injuries.

The driver of the BMW had sustained serious injuries and paramedics suspected neck and back injuries. The 14 remaining commuters from the taxi sustained various injuries and were all stabilised on scene. The patients were transported to various hospitals in the area for further medical care.

The necessary authorities will investigate the accident further.
