KATHU 20 January 2012, 07:00

8 students sustained injuries this morning after the bakkie they were traveling in overturned on the Beben road in the direction of Kathu.

The cause of the collision is unknown, but the bakkie had allegedly lost control before veering from the road and overturning down an embankment. The bakkie had 2 people in the front cab and 6 on the rear load bed. All the individuals are allegedly students on their way to school.

When ER24 paramedics arrived at scene they found all the patients standing around at the side of the road. Paramedics then treated the patients for injuries ranging from multiple scrapes and bruises to suspected back and neck injuries.

They were later transported to a nearby medical facility for further care. Local law enforcement officials who attended the scene will be investigating the incident further.
