Ctrack unveils effective tool to keep track of out-of-office workers

We have referred on the Arrive Alive road safety website to a very effective safety device for cyclists called Ctrack ICE.

This was discussed in a section titled “Cycling safely on South African roads and mountain bike trails”

The Benefits however goes far beyond safety for the outdoor enthusiasts with employers also recognizing this device as a powerful tool to monitor the movement of their employees.

Vehicle monitoring and fleet management company Ctrack has unveiled In Case of Emergency 2 (ICE2), a multifunctional personal tracking and mobile panic alarm tool.

The company says ICE2 is suitable across all lone worker, security, or workforce management environments.

“ICE2 is a total workforce management tool that can be used to keep track of out-of-office workers. It can be used as a time-logging device and can track where workers are and how long they are in a designated area,” says James Verster, CTO of Ctrack owner DigiCore Holdings.

Tracking employees

Ctrack already has ICE, which it launched with Nashua Mobile and Cell C in 2009.

ICE is a cellphone and personal tracking device that calls the Ctrack support centre, which then contacts emergency services and lets them know the user’s exact GPS location once the SOS switch is pressed.

It has four pre-programmable speed dial numbers, and an SOS alert button is configured using a secure Web platform, according to the company.

ICE2 allows updates to be sent to the business owner on a time basis, for example, once every few seconds, or even by the distance the unit has travelled, like eve! ry 100m.

“This ensures the most accurate position is given at all times by utilising GPS functionality within the device.”

Ctrack says there is also a man-down functionality, where notifications can be sent to guards to ensure they are active and awake while on duty and not in any danger.

“But beyond security, ICE2 can also be used to improve the client service of a company. It can track when a salesperson meets with a client and the length of time spent there. This could assist organisations in drawing up customer relationship management reports and identifying the return on investment on the hours sales people invest at clients.”

The device has full cellphone functionality with 20 pre-assigned numbers that can be dialled.

“ICE2 is a cost-effective way for the business owner to provide a business communication tool to its workers that only communicates to assigned numbers. This ensures cellphone functionality wher! e expenditure is easily monitored and controlled,” says Verster.

The device also has a panic button, which will notify the Ctrack bureau once pressed. Users can decide on various levels of escalation and whether to notify paramedics, the police or a security company.
