Man injured in Newlands collision

A single man sustained serious injuries this afternoon following a collision in Main road in Newlands.

The man had entered a intersection on the road when a minibus taxi collided with the side of his Mazda passenger vehicle at speed. When ER24 paramedics arrive at the scene they found the man, believed to be aged in his 30’s, still in the driver’s seat.

The man had sustained suspected back and neck injuries as well as a deep cut to his head. Paramedic administered treatment to the man at the scene before transporting him to a nearby medical facility. No one in the minibus taxi sustained any injuries.

Local law enforcement officials attended the scene and will be investigating the collision further.
