Pietermaritzburg crews attend to 2 serious accidents

Two accidents in Pietermaritzburg has left 5 injured.

A bakkie with 2 occupants left the Curry Post Dirt Road and crashed into the stream at the bottom of the embankment. Both men were found still inside the vehicle after it had crashed front first into the rocks at the side of the stream.

The local provincial services were first on scene and treated and transported one of the occupants, while ER24 treated and transported the second occupant. Both men had suffered serious injuries and needed to be taken to hospital. Both were in a stable condition when they were taken to Northdale Hospital by ambulance.

The second incident involved 3 vehicle crashing into one another at the corners of Bombay Road and the New Grey Town Road. A vehicle appeared to have crossed the intersection at the wrong time which caused the accident. A bakkie crashed into a sedan and then crashed into another car which was stationary at the opposite end robots.

Out of the 7 people involved in the accident, only 3 needed to be taken to hospital. They were treated for minor to moderate injuries and were taken per ambulance to Northdale Hospital.

The case of both accident are to be investigated by the relevant authorities.
