Umbumbulu Accident Leaves One Dead


[UMBUMBULU ROAD – 02 JANUARY 2012 AT 15H00]

One person has died, another person is in a critical condition and two more people are in a serious condition after the vehicle they were travelling in left the Umbumbulu Road just before Tala Game Reserve outside Trevton Eggs. The vehicle is believed to have lost control in a bend and rolled and landed on top of an embankment.

Emergency personnel arrived on the scene and found the vehicle on its wheels with extensive damage. The occupants of the vehicle were found outside believed to been ejected. Paramedics assessed the patients and found that one patient had already succumbed to his injuries and was declared deceased on the scene. Another patient was in a critical condition. Paramedics suspected head and chest injuries and needed Advanced Life Support intervention. He was taken to Greys Hospital in a critical condition where trauma staff was waiting.

The remaining two patients were treated for serious neck and back injuries and were stabilised on scene. They were transported to Northdale Hospital for further medical intervention.

The necessary authorities will investigate the accident further.
