18 Cars And 1 Truck Involved In Accident

[HAMMERSDALE – 16 FEBRUARY 2012 AT 14H15]

Eighteen cars and one truck have been involved in a collision on the N3 Durban bound before Hammersdale this afternoon.
ER24 paramedics from Hillcrest and Pietermaritzburg arrived on the scene and found cars all over the road and a truck was just a few meters away with damage as well. Paramedics went from vehicle to vehicle making sure that either driver or passengers were not injured in the collision.

A female driver believed to be in her early forties was found to have injured herself in the collision. Paramedics suspected that she had suffered serious neck and back injuries from the impact. Advanced Life Support intervention was performed on the patient before she was transported to Hillcrest Private Hospital in a serious but stable condition. No other injuries were reported on the accident.

It is believed that the truck and trailer were travelling down the N3, when the driver lost control, causing his cargo of polyprpylene to spill out and roll onto the freeway. This is believed to have caused the drivers of the motor vehicles to lose control due to no traction on the road. the necessary authorities were on the scene and would investigate the accident further.
