4 people sustained serious injuries after 2 BMW’s collided head-on, on the R557 in Walkerville early this morning.
The cause of the collision is unknown, but when ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene they could see that the collision was serious as both vehicles had sustained substantial damage. One of the vehicles had bounced off of the other one after the initial impact before colliding with a road side barrier.
Paramedics found a total of 4 individuals from both vehicles in need of medical attention. The patients sustained injuries ranging from suspected back and neck injuries, various scrapes and bruises to head and chest injuries.
The patients received Advanced Life Support treatment at the scene before being immobilised to special boards. They were later transported to a nearby medical facility by ER24 as well as another ambulance service.
Local law enforcement officials attended the scene and will be investigating the incident further.
