Two men have sustained injuries and another has luckily been left uninjured after two separate accidents where vehicles have left the road and crashed down below.

A man is lucky to have come from the accident in Pietermaritzburg injury free after his car left the road on Church Street and crashed off the bridge. When paramedics arrived at the incident, they expected the worst. What they found however, was a man that was slightly shaken, but fortunately injury free.

The road has just been opened and this may have lead to the cause of the accident. The man refused to be taken to hospital by ambulance after being thoroughly assessed by paramedics on scene.

In the early hours of this morning, Durban paramedics were called to the M13 Fields Hill bridge. A bakkie had crashed off the bridge and gone down the embankment. According to witnesses, it looked serious and rescuers rushed to the scene.

The bakkie was wedged in at the bottom of the bridge and one of the occupants was still trapped inside. One man had jumped from the vehicle and was found to have sustained moderate injuries.

The man that was still inside the vehicle was in a stable condition and although needing to be rescued from the vehicle by Fire and Rescue Workers, he too had sustained only moderate injuries. He needed Advanced Life Support treatment in the form of pain medication, but he was alert and orientated throughout the incident.

Both men will be recovering in RK Khans Hospital in Durban following the accident.

The cause of either of the above accidents is unknown, and will be investigated by the necessary authorities.
