A man in his late 40’s has been killed and a 23 year old has suffered extensive injuries after an accident in Vanderbijlpark.

The two men were on a motorbike when it is believed that they collided into the side of a truck. The bike appeared to have been traveling on Edison Boulevard in the direction of Andries Potgieter Street while the truck was crossing over the Boulevard from Fraser Street. It is not yet clear as to who was at fault in the cause of the accident.

The man in his 40’s died at the scene and sadly there could be nothing further done for him and he was declared deceased by paramedics. The 23 year old needed Advanced Life Support treatment as he had suffered multiple injuries and multiple broken bones in his legs and arms. He was stabilised as much as possible on scene while the ER24 Discovery Medicopter was called in to the scene.

The Medicopter landed on scene and the loaded the patient for transport to Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in Soweto.

The occupants of the truck sustained no physical injuries.
