Four injured in Randburg taxi accident

[Randburg 06 February 2012 07:30]

A taxi with four occupants crashed over the middle island and into oncoming traffic on Main Road in Randburg this morning. The taxi had been traveling in the direction of Randburg when the accident happened.

It appears that there may have been some form of mechanical failure to the taxi causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle. The front end of the taxi was extensively damaged and the driver and front passenger sustained the most serious injuries out of the four occupants, having borne the brunt of the impact.

The driver was treated for a severely broken right leg, while the front passenger had sustained broken bones in his lower left leg. The two back passengers had sustained only minor to moderate injuries.

All four patients were treated accordingly and taken to Helen Joseph Hospital by ambulance.

Fortunately, the woman and a little girl who were in the Corsa that the taxi crashed into on the opposite bound carriageway were not injured.
