Ten people including a child has been killed and thirteen others have sustained various other injuries after a collision involving a taxi and a truck took place on the N1 south about 20km outside of Louis Trichardt this morning.
Emergency personnel arrived on the scene and found both vehicles on their sides in the left hand lane with extensive damage to both. The commuters were found outside of the taxi. Twenty four people were assessed on scene and found that nine commuters including a child from the taxi and one person from the truck had unfortunately succumbed to their injuries and were declared deceased on scene.
The other occupant from the truck and thirteen other commuters from the taxi were treated on scene for various injuries and where stabilised on scene before they were taken to various hospital in the area by various emergency personnel.
The circumstances around the accident are unclear at this moment in time but the local authorities were on the scene and would investigate the accident further.
