10 Injured in Pietermaritzburg head-on

10 people sustained various injuries after two vehicles collided head-on, on the R103 near lion park this afternoon.

The cause of the collision is unknown at this stage, but the two vehicles, a bakkie and a car had allegedly collided head-on at speed. The vehicles then proceeded to leave the road and overturn down an embankment.

When ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene they found a total of 10 patients in need of medical attention. Four of the patients sustained suspected back and neck injuries as well as various scrapes and bruises. The remaining six patients sustained minor injuries only.

All of the patients were then transported from the scene to various hospitals in the surrounding area in various ambulances. Local law enforcement officials who attended the scene will be investigating the incident further.
