[DURBAN – 07 MARCH 2012 AT 11H50]
A bakkie travelling along the N2 north bound near to the Nandi Drive on ramp has over turned and has left the driver and passenger with minor injuries this morning.
ER24 and other emergency personnel arrived on the scene and found the bakkie lying on its side in the right hand lane of the freeway with diesel pouring out of the containers that were loaded on the back. The driver and passenger were found seated on the Armco barrier near to the bakkie. The paramedics assessed the patients and were treated for minor cuts and abrasions and were taken to a nearby hospital for further medical care.
It is believed that the bakkie had some sort of mechanical problem causing the driver to lose control and crash into the Armco barrier. The necessary authorities were on the scene and would investigate the accident further. The right hand lane and middle lane of the freeway was closed due to the cleanup of the fuel.
