[DURBAN – 21 MARCH 2012 AT 17H00]
A light motor vehicle lost control on Argyle and Cowey Road, just outside of the Durban CBD and crashed into a tree, leaving the four occupants in a critical condition this afternoon.
ER24 paramedics and other emergency personnel arrived on the scene and found the occupants still inside of the vehicle. Paramedics assessed the patient and found that they had suffered various traumatic and critical injuries. Advanced Life Support intervention had to be performed on the patients while the Fire Department used the Jaws of Life and other rescue equipment to extricate them from the vehicle. Once stabilised further, they were transported to a nearby hospital for further medical care.
It is unclear what caused the driver to lose control of his vehicle but the necessary authorities were on the scene and would investigate the accident further.
