Gabriel adds new range of Safari Shock Absorbers for Discovery 2

Land Rover Discovery 2 fitted with new Gabriel Safari HDP shocks

Control Instruments-Automotive has launched its successful Safari HDP 4×4 shock absorber for the Land Rover Discovery 2.

It is the only locally developed and manufactured 4×4 shock absorber in South Africa.

The Safari HDP has an advanced design. It offers benefits such as an extra large  working cylinder that reduces stress on the working components, increasing durability.

The eye mountings are made up of a single solid machined ring making for a stronger product compared to the normal alternative curled eye rings. The eyes are also welded 360 as opposed to the normal 180 weld.

HDP shocks can operate at higher temperatures encountered in severe off-road conditions. Normal shock oil operates at 120 ºC while HDP has oil can operate up to 180 C which can prevent premature heat damage of critical parts.

Infusing nitrogen gives quicker shock absorber response times, better vehicle control and ride comfort.

A viton rod seal is included in a cast iron piston ring increasing durability at high-operating temperatures compared to teflon-type rings.

A hydraulic stop lock cushions metal-to-metal contact inside the shock under full extension.

Durable polyurethane and rubber mounting bushes reduce wear and tear, and teflon DU bushes in the rod guides, with a Teflon insert between the rod guide and the rod, reduce friction, further extending the lifespan.

The Safari HDP is designed for both standard and up to 2” or 50mm raised suspensions and is supplied with a three year unlimited kilometer warranty.
