A collision on the N12 south near Xavier in Ridgeway involving numerous cars and a truck has left one person dead and thirteen ours in a critical condition this morning.
ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found people strewn across the road and entrapped inside vehicles. Paramedics had to assess patients and found that fourteen people including children of various age groups were in a critical condition.
Advanced Life Support intervention had to be performed to help stabilise the patients further. The ER24 Discovery Medicopter was called to the scene to help airlift three patients to various hospitals for rapid medical care.
One patient believed to be aged between fourteen and sixteen, unfortunately succumbed to the injuries while emergency personnel tried to stabilise the patient. The patient was declared deceased on the scene.
The remaining patients who were in a critical condition were transported to various hospitals for further medical intervention.
The circumstances to the accident are not clear but the local authorities were on the scene and would investigate the accident further. Traffic was severely affected as the N12 was closed to traffic.
