Motorcyclist killed in Vereeniging crash

[Vereeniging 17 March 2012 11:00]

Just after 11am, paramedics responded to an accident on De Villiers Avenue in Vereeniging, where a motorbike had crashed into a car.

What appears to have happened was that as the vehicle was pulling into the local High School when the motorbike crashed into the driver’s side. The 44 year old woman who was driving the hatch was apparently going to watch her son play sport at the school.

Paramedics arrived at the scene to find the motorcyclist lying in the middle of the road, and despite resuscitation efforts to attempt to stabilise his extensive injuries, there was nothing more that could be done for him.A short while later he was declared deceased. The man appeared to have been in his mid 30’s.

The woman was trapped in the wreckage due to the damage to that side of the vehicle. The Fire and Rescue workers needed to remove the doors from the car mechanically, and the woman was treated for multiple injuries while they were busy. She was in a stable condition and had suffered moderate injuries. She was then taken by ambulance to Mediclinic Vereeniging for further assessment and care.
