Moore Road Durban was closed after a heavy goods trucks rear axle disappeared into a sink hole at the intersection of Moore and Hunt Roads this morning at around 04h30. Reports from the scene indicate that a water main must have broken eroding the soil from under the roadway.
When Netcare 911 paramedics arrived at the scene they found that the rear axle of the truck was trapped in the sink hole after trying to turn from Hunt Road into Moore Road. The truck came to rest at a dangerous angle and emergency workers feared that it could overturn if the erosion continued
A heavy goods tow truck with a crane lifted the rear of the truck from the hole at around 07h45 but the road remained closed.
