Seven People Injured In Durban CBD Accident

[DURBAN – 30 MARCH 2012 AT 21H30]

A collision at the intersection of Smith and Gardener Street in the Durban CBD, involving a light motor vehicle and a bakkie, has left two people with serious injuries and five others with minor injuries this evening.

ER24 arrived on the scene and found the bakkie still in the road, while the light motor vehicle had come to rest up against a bus shelter with extensive damage to the light motor vehicle. The passenger of the bakkie was still seated in the vehicle and was treated for suspected neck and back injuries. The driver sustained minor cuts to his arms.

The occupants of the light motor vehicle were found seated on the pavement next to the car. One patient was treated for suspected neck and back injuries and four other were treated for minor to moderate injuries. They were all stabilised and transported to a nearby hospital for further medical care.

The necessary authorities were on the scene and would investigate the accident further.
