Woman In Critical Condition After Car Rolls Down Embankment

[BOTHA’S HILL – 19 MARCH 2012 AT 07H45]

A woman believed to be in her early forties is in a critical condition after her vehicle left the road on Old Main Road in Botha’s Hill opposite the Comrades Wall and rolled down an embankment and landed on to the railway tracks.

ER24 and VEMA arrived on the scene and found the car on its side with the driver outside of the vehicle just a few meters away. Paramedics assessed the patient and found that she had suffered facial injuries and suspected neck and back injuries. Advanced Life Support intervention had to be performed on the patient before she was placed on a specialised board and carried out along the railway line for about 400m to a waiting ambulance and transported her to Hillcrest Private Hospital in a critical condition for further medical care.

It is believed that the woman was on her way home after dropping her child off at school, when she somehow lost control of the car and rolled down the embankment.
The local authorities were on the scene and would investigate the accident further.
