2 Die in N12 Potchefstroom collision

Two people have died and three others sustained injuries in a single vehicle accident on the N12 highway approximately 30 kilometers outside of Potchefstroom.

The cause of the collision is unknown, but a Peugeot 206 was traveling on the road when it allegedly veered out of control and overturned multiple times. When ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene they found that there where five occupants in the vehicle during the accident, all female believed to be aged in their late 20’s.

Two of the occupants had sustained various fatal injuries and were unfortunately later declared dead at the scene. Another two occupants were entrapped in the vehicle as bent steel and rubber was pinning them in the wreck. Local fire and rescue services used specialised hydraulic rescue equipment to cut the vehicle in order to free the patients.

Once freed from the vehicle the ladies recieved treatment at the scene for injuries ranging from suspected back and neck injuries, chest injuries, broken legs and head injuries. The other occupant also received treatment at the scene for suspected back and neck injuries.

All three patients were later rapidly transported to the Potchefstroom provincial hospital for further medical care. Local law enforcement officials attended the scene and will be investigating the incident further.
