3 injured in Pinetown head-on collision

PINETOWN 19 April 2012, 13:30

Three people sustained various injuries this afternoon following a head-on collision on the M7 near Pinetown.

The cause of the collision is unclear at this stage, but a Mercedes Bens passenger vehicle had allegedly veered out of control before colliding head-on with a Volkswagen Golf.

When ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene they found that two occupants from the Golf, an elderly couple, had sustained some injuries. The male and female, both believed to be aged in their 60’s, received treatment at the scene for suspected back and neck injuries as well as lacerations to their faces.

Both occupants were then transported from the scene to hospital in an ER24 ambulance. A single female from the golf received treatment for suspected back and neck injuries before being transported from the scene by another ambulance service.

Local law enforcement officials attended the scene and will be investigating the incident further.
