6 year old airlifted after being struck by a car

A six year old boy sustained serious injuries this afternoon, after he was struck by a car on Valhalla drive.

The cause of the incident is unclear at this stage, but when paramedics from the Western Cape Provincial Department of Health: Emergency Medical Services, arrived at the scene they found the child in severe pain.

Paramedics promptly dispatched the ER24 Discovery Medicopter to the scene. Within minutes the Medicopter had landed at the scene. The boy then recieved treatment at the scene for facial injuries, suspected back and neck injuries and a broken right leg.

The boy was later rapidly airlifted to the Red Cross Children’s Hospital for further treatment. Local law enforcement officials attended the scene and will be investigating the incident further.
