18 April 2012 – Car Collided with Three Pedestrians in Waltloo Pretoria

[WALTLOO] Three pedestrians had to receive invasive treatment this morning on Zasm Street in Waltloo, Pretoria when a car collided into them.

Paramedics from ER24 that arrived first on the scene found a chaotic incident where three pedestrians, a woman and two men, were injured. It is understood from bystanders that a Mazda 3 was allegedly traveling north on Zasm Street when the driver tried to avoid a collision with a Tata Bakkie turning into Csar Street. The bystanders explained that the Mazda collided without warning into the group of pedestrians standing next to the road.

A woman believed to be in her early 20’s sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital. Two men, believed to be in their late 20’s sustained serious injuries. One of the men is in a critical condition and paramedics had to initiate Advanced Life Support intervention in order to sustain his basic life functions before he was rushed off to Steve Biko Hospital.

The driver of the Mazda sustained moderate injuries and was treated on the scene.

The exact cause will be investigated by the local police that attended the incident.
