Motorcyclist Knocked Down In Pietermaritzburg CBD


[PIETERMARITZBURG – 10 APRIL 2012 AT 16H30]

A motor cyclist believed to be seventeen is in a serious condition after he was knocked down by a bakkie at the corners of Victoria and Chapel Street in the Pietermaritzburg CBD this afternoon.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found the motor bike still in the road and with extensive damage to it. The motorcyclist was found just off the road and in a lot of pain. He was assessed and found that he had suspected neck and back injuries and long bone fractures. Advanced Life Support intervention was performed on the patient before he was transported to Mediclinic Pietermaritzburg in a serious but stable condition. No injuries were reported from the bakkie.

The necessary authorities were on the scene and would investigate the accident further.
