[POTCHEFSTROOM] – Shortly after 21:30 paramedics from ER24 were dispatched to the Ventersdorp road approximately 10 kilometers outside of Potchefstroom for an incident involving several vehicles. Due to the nature of the incident, the ER24 Emergency Contact Centre dispatched multiple resources to the scene at the time of the call.
Paramedics that arrived on the scene found a different scenario where numerous vehicles were scattered across the road. On further inspection they found that a truck carrying eight new vehicles had overturned leaving car wrecks over all the lanes.
The driver of the truck, believed to be in his early 30’s, was found walking on the scene. Paramedics assessed the man and found that he sustained no injuries and was only in shock of what had happened.
The driver explained that the trailer suddenly started to swerve to the one side and then overturned.
The exact cause is not known and will be investigated. The Ventersdorp Road was closed off for clean-up operations.
