One person dies and five other injured in Kathu accident

One person has died and five other people sustained various injuries following a single vehicle accident on the Olifantshoek road in the direction of Kathu.

The cause of the incident is unclear at this stage, but a Corsa bakkie with six occupants was traveling on the road when it allegedly veered out of control and overturned into the veld.

When ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene they found that one of the occupants had sustained various fatal injuries. Unfortunately the man was later declared dead at the scene. Another man had sustained serious injuries in the form of  suspected back and neck injuries as well as injuries to his abdomen and a broken left arm. He received treatment at the scene before being rapidly transported to hospital by another ambulance service.

The remaining four patients received treatment at the scene for various scrapes and bruises as well as suspected back and neck injuries. All of the patients were then transported to Kathu hospital for further medical care.

Local law enforcement officials attended the scene and will be investigating th incident further.
