ER24 paramedics had their hands full earlier this afternoon following two serious collisions within 20 minutes of each other in Pretoria.

The first collision occurred at 16:10 when a passenger vehicle collided into the rear of a bakkie in the Pretoria CBD. The car had collided into the bakkie with such force that the bakkie had overturned onto its side following the collision.

Paramedics found that a single male occupant from the passenger vehicle had sustained some injuries. The man received treatment at the scene for suspected back and neck injuries before being transported from the scene by another ambulance service.

Paramedics then received a call out to the N1 highway near Pierre Van Ryneveld for another motor vehicle collision. Upon arriving at the scene paramedics found that a tanker truck and two passenger vehicles traveling in the same direction had collided.

The two passenger vehicles had collided with the bottom part of the trailer and had been dragged by the truck for approximately 50 meters before coming to a standstill. Miraculously only one male occupant from one of the passenger vehicles sustained minor injuries.

Paramedics treated the man at the scene for suspected back and neck injuries before transporting him to a nearby medical facility. Local law enforcement officials attended the scene and will be investigating the incident further.
