Two women and a child injured

[Welkom 07 May 2012 06:30]

Welkom paramedics rushed to the scene of an accident on Stateway Road at the crossing to the Bultfontein Road (R710). There had been reports of a serious accident with two women and a child that had been injured.

Paramedics arrived to find a VW Polo had rolled down an embankment quite a distance from the road and had landed back on its wheels. The damage to the vehicle was significant and paramedics immediately suspected that the occupants had sustained serious injuries.

What appears to have happened, is that the driver of the Polo had lost control of the car after she tried to avoid a collision with a Black VW Golf. The two vehicles did not crash into one another, but as the woman swerved out she lost control and the Polo crashed down the embankment.

The driver sustained what appeared to be broken bones in her face while the woman in the passenger seat was lucky to have come out of the accident with a single scratch to her forehead. The 10 year old little girl that was sitting in the back seat was in a lot of pain and assessments revealed that she had a broken arm and possible shoulder too. The Advanced Life Support paramedics gave her something for the pain and all three of the patients were taken to a nearby hospital by ambulance.
