Motorcyclist killed in N1 Paarden Eiland crash

CAPE TOWN 4 May 2012, 06:45

A male motorcyclist has died following a collision with a truck on the N1 highway in Paarden Eiland this morning.

The cause of the incident is unclear at this stage, but the motorcyclist was traveling in the direction of Paarl when he collided with the rear of a container truck. The impact caused the motorcyclist to be catapulted through the air and onto the opposite side of the highway. The man was then allegedly struck by another passenger vehicle.

When ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene they found the man still in the road. The motorcyclist, believed to be aged in his 30’s, had sustained various fatal injuries. He was later declared dead at the scene.

None of the other individuals involved in the collision sustained any injuries. Local law enforcement officials attended the scene and will be investigating the incident further.
