12 injured in four vehicle collision on Golden Highway

[Lenasia, GP 12 June 2012 08:30]

Three bakkies and a taxi collided on the Golden Highway just outside of Lenasia this morning leaving 12 people with various injuries.

The cause of the accident in not known, and the relevant authorities attended the incident in order to determine what took place. When paramedics and rescuers arrived at the scene, the vehicles were in the middle of the road and the taxi off to the side. It appears that a head on collision between one of the bakkies may have taken place and then the other two bakkies crashed into the initial two vehicles.

In total, 12 patients were injured, with four having sustained quite severe injuries including broken bones and back and neck injuries, while the remaining eight patients were treated for minor to moderate injuries. All of the patients were adults, except one little boy around the age of 4 and they were all treated on scene for the injuries that they had sustained.

The patients were transported to hospital by the various ambulances who attended the scene.
