A Threat in the Cage but not on the Road believes EFC fighter Chett Meyer

Chett Meyer with Leejay Carrozzo, Managing Member SMAC

To his competitors he is known as Chett “The Threat” Meyer but out on the road this EFC (Extreme Fighting Championships) Africa fighter prefers to play it safe.

In a chance meeting with Leejay Carrozzo, Managing Member of SMAC (Smart Automotive Components), leaders in vehicle accessories and aftermarket products, Chett mentioned his need for the perfect hands free solution. As the sole distributor of Parrot Bluetooth systems, Carrozzo embraced the opportunity to sponsor Meyer and welcome him on board as an ambassador for SMAC.

Having recently become a father has put a new perspective on safety for Chett especially when on the roads. According to arrive alive, a distracted driver is six times more likely to cause an accident than one driving under the influence of alcohol.

“As one of few fighters with a family, a full time job as well as training up to three times a day, I am often on the road so it is very important that I remain focused whilst driving” states Meyer “I do however need to be accessible to my family, customers and trainer at all times which is why it is wonderful to have the Parrot MKi 9100 fitted into my vehicle.”

The Parrot MKi 9100 has automatic connection, a wireless remote to control the functions of the car kit, automatic phonebook synchronization and is compatible with virtually all cellphones via bluetooth. Furthermore it has a user friendly LCD display, speaker independent voice recognition and the ability to play music from any bluetooth stereo compatible devices. It can be used with up to 10 devices and is capable of storing up to 8000 contacts.

“It is always good for SMAC to be affiliated with sportsmen and woman who are admired by their peers” explains Carrozzo “it is our aim to create awareness about the dangers of driving whilst talking on your cellphone and to have an extra voice behind us can only help our cause. The new AARTO points system due to come into effect later this year, states that a person caught talking on their cellphone whilst driving will be issued a fine immediately and will have points deducted from their license. The more we can educate people about this, the better prepared we will all be for when the act comes into effect” says Leejay.

“I must admit that I am a real petrol head and my car is my pride and joy so I was concerned about getting a harness for the Parrot MKi9100”, says Chett “but honestly I had nothing to worry about, the installation was quick and the unit is compact and neat. I drive a Subaru which is quite a noisy car but because of the dual microphone system with echo cancellation of the Parrot I have no trouble hearing the caller and they do not even hear my car noise. It truly is an amazing system; I can’t imagine driving around without one anymore.”

Meyer will be assisting SMAC in educating the consumer about the dangers of distracted driving through public appearances in retail stores and shopping centres as well as through various social mediums.
