A driver is in a serious condition, while two passengers sustained minor injuries after the car they were in crashed in to a car carrier on Alexander Road in Westmead this afternoon.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found a VW Golf facing oncoming traffic, with extensive damage to the driver’s side and front. The truck was a few meters up the road and had jack knifed. The three occupants of the car were found on the grass verge near to the accident scene.

The driver had a suspected broken leg and was in a lot of pain. Advanced Life Support intervention was performed on the patient before the paramedics could splint his leg. The two passengers were treated for minor cuts and abrasions. All three patients were transported to R.K. Khans Hospital for further medical care.

It is believed that the driver lost control of his car as he took the corner and side swiped the truck that was going up the hill. SAPS were on the scene and would investigate the accident further.
