On Friday night, 22 June, at around 23:00, a woman driving a BMW 320i was being escorted by her husband in another vehicle down Modderfontein Road between Emerald Boulevard and Laurie Road. A white Mazda 6 allegedly raced up behind the BMW bumping it and causing the driver to lose control and roll.
“After causing the accident the Mazda allegedly fled the scene,” reports Terence Teireira, from the Matrix Road Safety Association, who arrived on the scene. “Apparently the driver of the Mazda 6 had been driving recklessly further up the road almost pushing another vehicle off the road.”
The Matrix Road Safety Association vehicle was the first vehicle at the scene and the on-board medic assessed the driver involved in the accident who then refused hospital treatment.
“The SAPS and JMPD were on scene and an investigation is underway,” he concludes.
