Sixteen Injured In Taxi Accident in Pinetown

[PINETOWN, KZN – 04 JUNE 2012 AT 14H50]

Sixteen people have been injured after a security bakkie and a taxi collided into one another on Lauth Road in Pinetown this afternoon.
ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found the taxi on its side with the bakkie close to the vehicle. The commuters of the taxi were found seated on the grass verge near to the accident. The driver of the taxi was still inside the bakkie.

Fifteen people from the taxi where injured of which two patients had sustained suspected neck and back injuries. Thirteen patients had suffered minor cuts and abrasions and general body pains. The driver of the bakkie sustained suspected neck and back injuries and multiple cuts to the neck. All patients were treated and stabilised and transported to various hospitals in the area for further medical care.

It is unclear how the collision occurred but the local authorities were on the scene and would investigate the accident further.
