[WESTVILLE, KZN 31 May 2012 08:00]

Two men have died and 13 others have sustained various injuries following a collision on the N3 highway just before the Pavilion off ramp.

The events leading up to the collision is unclear at this stage, but the bakkie had allegedly veered out of control before overturning in the middle of the highway. All of the passengers were ejected from the back of the bakkie and were found strewn across the highway.

When ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene they found that two of the passengers, both men believed to be aged in their 50’s, had sustained various fatal injuries. Both were later declared dead at the scene.

Two other patients sustained serious injuries in the form of multiple broken bones as well as scrapes and bruises and suspected back and neck injuries. The remaining 11 patients all sustained minor scrapes and bruises only.

All of the patients received treatment at the scene before being transported to a nearby medical facility for further medical treatment.
