Cyclist knocked down in Randburg on Malibongwe Drive

[Randburg, GP 13 July 2012 07:15]

A cyclist has been knocked down on Malibongwe Drive at the intersection to the R114 (Lion Park Crossing) where he suffered such extensive injuries that the medical helicopter had to be called to airlift him to hospital.

It appears that the man in his 50’s was on his way to work on his bicycle when he was knocked down by a Hyundi light motor vehicle. ER24 paramedics arrived on scene and found the man lying in the road. The Advanced Life Support paramedic took over the man’s care and he was placed on specialised equipment which took over his vital functions. While treatment was being given, AER24 was dispatched to the scene and they landed in the intersection.

The man was then airlifted to the Charlotte Maxeke Hospital for further medical care.

Fortunately no one in the car suffered any injuries.
